1. Click on this link to find out if a sidewalk is a good place to cook your morning breakfast!
2. Now that you have read "Can You Really Cook An Egg on the Sidewalk?", answer the following questions in your science notebook: 1) What does the word "efficiently" mean? 2)Are sidewalks good conductors of heat? What does it mean to be a good conductor? 3)Can you cook an egg on the sidewalk? Why or why not? 3. Click on this link then hit launch. A new window should open up on your computer. 4. Go through the website by hitting next. Be sure to answer the questions below in your science notebook too: 4) What is thermal energy? 5) What happens when you make it colder? What happens when you make it hotter? 6) In conduction, what particles are the first in the pan to get thermal energy? 7) In convection, where do the cooler, more densely packed particles move? 8) How does the pot give off heat once it comes off the stove? 9) Explain how conduction, convection, and radiation together help heat the Earth? 5. When you are finished, please wrap up your head phones and plug your laptop in. You can work on homework or independent read. There is no talking or you will lose free time at the end of the day.

You can use your supplies to make it colorful. Before you start, you must put your laptop away correctly and wrap up you headphones and put those away. Turn your worksheet in to the side table. 4. When you finish the "Final Product", you may do make up work or independent read. Extra time may be earned at the end of the day if everyone is on task and following directions. 1. Open the link for the chapter on thermal energy.
2. Read through the chapter. You are going to have to answer some questions in your notebook. I would read the questions that you need to answer for that section BEFORE you read the section so you know what you are looking for. Then read the section. Then answer in your notebook. After that, you can move onto the next section. In your notebook, answer the following questions: Section 1 Assessment: Question 1 and 2 Section 2 Assessment: Question 4 Section 3 Assessment: Question 1 (You must have a sentence explaining how they are similar and a sentence explaining how they are all different) Chapter 6 Study Guide (You do not have to read a section to answer these. This is from the whole reading): Section 1- Number 2 Section 2 - Number 3 Section 3- Number 5 *** You must write in complete sentences to get full credit. What you do not finish is homework and you will not get free time. 3. Plug your laptop in and wrap your headphones up and put them away. If either one of these are not put away properly, you lose recess. 4. Do your makeup work or independent read. 1. Watch this video on 3 ways of transferring heat energy!
2. Preview the slideshow and be ready to discuss. Answer the questions on the question sheet as you go through. 3. Do any makeup work. Then, independent read until everyone else gets finished. 1. Watch this video about conductors and insulators.
2. In your science notebook, write 1-2 sentences explaining the difference between an insulator and a conductor. 3. Give an example for each. 4. Open up this webquest. 5. Go through the 4 links. In your notebook, you must tell me: - 2 "cools facts about heat" - tell me the 3 ways heat is transferred and an example of each 6. Wrap your headphones up and put them away. Plug your laptop back in and do any makeup work that you have or independent read. Webquest!
1. Get your headphones ready. First go to this link to answer questions 1-11. The video will help you so make sure that you are listening and that you read the questions ahead of time so that you know what you are listening for. 2. For question 12, a take a virtual field trip to Lowe's! See why it is important to insulate your home! 3. For the last part of the webquest, go to this link to find all the cool ways that you can save heat energy in your home! Make sure you fill some in on your sheet and give reasons why this would help save heat energy. You could even apply these tips in your own home! 4. When you have finished, please wrap up your headphone and put them away properly. Plug your computer in. Turn your webquest in on the side table. While we will be going over this, I want to give you points for all your hard work! 5. Independent read until everyone else is finished. 1. Watch this video on Heat Energy! Be sure to answer the questions as you watch. They will be graded! Turn in on the side table when complete. REMEMBER YOUR NAME ON THE PAPER!!
2. Get a half sheet of paper from the side table and answer the question, how do jackets help us. Now, I know that they keep us warm. Be a scholar and us your anchor words and your knowledge from the past couple days on heat energy to answer this question. Turn this in on a separate pile on the side table. 3. Independent read. 1. Get the two papers from the side table and glue them on two separate pages in your science notebook. Put all of your supplies away when you are done.
2. Watch this video on conduction, convection, and radiation. Get a half sheet of paper from the supplies area and in one sentence, summarize what the meaning of conduction, convection, and radiation when you finish the video. 3. Go through the introduction and all three of the tabs on this site. Add any additional information that you found out. 4. When you finish, you can independent read or work on your homework, but there is no talking. Plug in your laptop and put your headphones away properly. If headphones are not put away neatly, people will be losing recess. 1. Go to this link and play the game.
2. Answer these questions in your science notebook and be ready to discuss tomorrow in class. You will receive points for having these questions in complete sentences.
3. Independent read when finished and wait for everyone else. Make sure that you plug your laptop in properly. 1. Quiz on Newton's Laws
2. Grab the Forces & Motion book. Answer question 6 on the same page you answered the other questions from the book. 3. Watch this video about motion. We will finish the rest tomorrow in science class. |
